And, it was a filming location for movies like Twister, The Thing, Snowpiercer, and The Terminator. As the largest town in the South Park Mere Area of Colorado Springs, it is home to multiple businesses and the world’s largest outdoor market.

The Rocky Mountains

The town was founded in the late 1800’s, and at that time it was called Silver Creek Springs. It was purchased by Walter J. Bower in 1905, and he changed the name to Idaho Springs. His son sold the town to the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1927, and at that time the town had a population of around 1,500. At that time, Idaho Springs was the second largest town in Colorado. Today, Idaho Springs is home to around 12,000 people, which is about half the population it had back in 1905. However, the town maintains a busy and lively downtown area. Some of the main draws of the town are its mountains, historical buildings, beautiful scenery, and the opportunity to ski and snowboard in the winter. 3.
