As a real estate broker, I am frequently asked about the best neighborhoods to live in within the Evergreen and Denver Foothills areas. However, answering this question can be complex as everyone has unique needs and preferences. Some people may prefer larger yards while others may want to avoid the maintenance of a larger lot. Additionally, people may have children who attend school, or they may own horses. Some may need to commute to Denver for work, while others may prioritize easy access to recreational activities such as skiing and mountain biking. The decision to purchase a home depends on several variables, including location, price, and personal preferences.

Despite these complexities, for the sake of simplicity, I will highlight a few of my preferred neighborhoods in the Evergreen area. However, it is important to note that these areas may not be the best fit for everyone.

The first neighborhood I recommend is Upper Bear Creek, which is one of my two favorite areas in Evergreen. Although the road to get there may be long and winding, the beautiful homes and serene creek make the trip worth it. While most of the homes in this area are older, they exude a charming mountain vibe that makes it feel like stepping back in time. Although homes in Upper Bear Creek may be more expensive, the area's rich history and personality make the investment worthwhile.

The next neighborhood on my list is Soda Creek, which boasts a fantastic location just minutes from I-70. Although cell phone service may be spotty in the area, the homes in Soda Creek are stunning, ranging from older mountain-style homes to newer mountain contemporary designs. Most of the homes allow horses, and the lots are generally quite large. The proximity to I-70 makes it easy to get to both Denver and the ski resorts, but homes in this area may be over a million dollars.

Another great option is Hiwan, a well-known neighborhood in Evergreen. Although the lots may not be as large as other areas, the homes in Hiwan offer a nice mix of different styles, sizes, and ages. Many of the homes were built by different builders, ensuring that the neighborhood does not feel like a cookie-cutter community. Hiwan is conveniently located near I-70 and the ski resorts, and there are many different neighborhoods within Hiwan to choose from.

Lastly, I highly recommend Hangen Ranch, an excellent neighborhood with a friendly community. Most of the homes in this area are horse properties on large lots, and the neighborhood hosts an annual Sweet Potato Fest that is a favorite among residents. Hangen Ranch is located near the Three Sisters Open Space and a large working ranch. This community offers a great sense of community and neighborliness.

While these are just a few of the many great neighborhoods in Evergreen, there truly isn't a bad place to live in the area. For more information on what area of Evergreen may best suit your needs, please contact an Orson Hill Realty broker for assistance.
