You can also stop and have lunch at the trailhead. #9 Windy Ridge Trail in Golden Colorado: Trail that Will Make You Feel Like a Bad-Ass The Windy Ridge Trail is known as one of the most difficult and technically challenging trail in Colorado. It is a double black diamond trail in a pine tree forest.

Riverdale Road is a beautiful 25 mile loop off of U.S. 40 between Evergreen and Morrison. The small but extremely technical single track is a perfect spot for a test session. Snowshoe/Hike Loop This is a great 5 mile hike to Snowshoe Lake. A steep hike that will definitely get you out of breath. The lake is open to mountain bikers from April 1 – October 1. DaVinci Trail DaVinci Trail is a 6 mile challenging trail through a variety of terrain that includes two creek crossings and rock hopping.

Pettingell Ranch is a 50-acre ranch that has a beginner beginner and advanced level mountain biking trail. The beginner and advanced trails can both be completed in about 1 hour. The intermediate level trail is more of a ride and has a lot of elevation gain and loss. The advanced trail is a must try. 3. Golden Intersection of Riverdale Road, Walnut St, Main St and S Lower Riverdale Rd If you want to hit up the Golden Intersection then you need to go here and hit up some different terrain. Golden has some of the most beautiful terrain and scenery in the area. The different terrain includes switch backs, one-way bumps, pump tracks and rocks. One of the most scenic places to ride in the area. There is a zip line and burly trail in the area. There are three lifts at the Golden junction.

You can get here by riding the Castle Rock bike path which is open and ready for you to ride your mountain bike around and explore this area. There are 2 main challenges in this mountain bike trail, a 3 mile uphill with 1500 ft elevation gain and a 13 mile trail that has 1000 ft elevation gain. There is another challenging trail that takes you back down to the main park area. These are some of the best trails in Golden Gate Canyon State Park. 6. Swift Creek Park Trail Where: Evergreen, Colorado Why: There are 6 different trails that are in this park for mountain biking. They range from beginner to intermediate. This park also has a track for mountain biking. There are a lot of jumps and jumpsets. It is good for any skill level.

6. Barr Lake State Park

Barr Lake State Park $4.50 per vehicle to get in and $5 if you rent a boat. There are two trailheads that you can park in to get to the lake and mountain biking trailheads. If you want to spend the whole day there you can bring your kayak with you. You can rent kayaks for $20 an hour. The lake is about the size of three basketball courts, and has an area called the “tent beaches” that are separated from the lake by a floating strip of wood. 7. Sixmile Canyon trail A Sixmile Canyon trail in Evergreen. There are many of these trails in Jefferson County. $5-8 per vehicle to get in and $8-$15 for a trail pass. This is the easiest trail to mountain bike in Evergreen. The one-mile paved trail that starts in Centennial is a loop that starts in the park in Evergreen.

This mountain biking trail is located about 50 miles from Denver, Colorado and is the tallest mountain in the state.
